Carpentry & Joinery

I qualified with a Level Three Diploma in Carpentry & Joinery during 2011. The course took three years to complete. It consisted of a day in college and four days in employment each week. I found it hard to find an employer due to my application being for an older apprentice so I created flyers which I distributed throughout the community I lived in. This resulted in a run of work in a variety of areas which allowed me to build a portfolio with photographic evidence and personal references. I also worked on building sites as a Labourer to increase my knowledge and network.

On completion of the course I returned to work for a Non Profit in the U.S.A within a Site Carpentry Role known as Special Projects. I spent seven summers at this organization, before during and after my course. They allowed me to not only grow my ability in Carpentry but to discover a love for music and song writing whilst being a positive role model to children aged eight to sixteen. This lead to a career break where I pursued music.

I learnt a great deal about myself during my time in the music industry. I refined my lyrical ability and shared many positive experiences with people who needed a little extra help in their own lives. I did this by volunteering and donating a percentage of what my music made to causes such as  Portsmouth Association For The Blind. My musical work can be heard by clicking on the " Uninterrupted Honesty " tab in the top left corner.

I returned to a job within the Carpentry & Joinery industry in 2016. My time was short due to circumstances out of  my control. They lead me to return to work as a Primary School Caretaker in 2018 for three years where I was encouraged to be more creative with my skillet. I made bespoke pieces of work to benefit pupils and staff at the school for years to come.

I left the school in 2021 to return to a Full Time Career in Carpentry & Joinery. Since then I have been involved with projects in Norfolk, Suffolk, Hampshire and  the Pacific North West, U.S.A. This work is reflected in my portfolio images below. I'd like for my future to include a position with a company that values my input as they do my skill set. One that allows me to grow with them, helping others in the process.
